Basic knowledge of fire sprinkler

1. Fire Sprinkler

Under the action of cold, it is a kind of sprinkler that is started separately according to the predetermined temperature range, or started by the control equipment according to the fire signal, and sprinkles water according to the designed sprinkler shape and flow.

2. Splash pan

At the top of the sprinkler head, an element capable of distributing water into a predetermined sprinkler shape.

3. Frame

Refers to the support arm and connecting part of the sprinkler.

4. Thermal sensing element

An element capable of operating a sprinkler at a predetermined temperature.

5. Nominal diameter

The nominal size of the sprinkler is specified according to the flow rate.

6. Release mechanism

The sprinkler is composed of heat sensitive elements, seals and other parts. It is the part that can be manually separated from the sprinkler body when the sprinkler is started.

7. Static operating temperature

In the test room, the temperature shall be raised according to the specified conditions. After the closed sprinkler is heated, the temperature of its thermal sensitive element acts.

8. Nominal operating temperature

Indicates the nominal operating temperature of the closed sprinkler in different temperature ranges under different operating environment conditions.

9. Deposition

After the sprinkler is heated, the parts in the release mechanism or the fragments of the heat sensitive elements are retained in the sprinkler frame or the splash plate, which significantly affects the sprinkler spraying water according to the design shape for more than 1min, that is, deposition.

Classification of sprinklers

1. Classification according to structural form

1.1 closed sprinkler

Sprinkler with release mechanism.

1.2 open sprinkler

Sprinkler without release mechanism.

2. Classification according to thermal sensing element

2.1 glass bulb sprinkler

The thermal sensing element in the release mechanism is a glass bulb. When the sprinkler is heated, the working fluid in the glass bulb will cause the ball to burst and open.

2.2 fusible alloy sprinkler

The heat sensitive element in the release mechanism is a fusible alloy sprinkler. When the sprinkler is heated, it is opened because the fusible alloy melts and falls off.

3. Classification according to installation method and sprinkler shape

3.1upright sprinkler

The sprinkler is vertically installed on the water supply branch pipe. The sprinkler is in the shape of a throwing object. It sprays 60% – 80% of the water downward. In addition, some of the water is sprayed to the ceiling.

3.2 pendent sprinkler

The pendent sprinkler is installed on the water supply branch pipe, and the sprinkler shape is parabolic, which sprays more than 80% of the water downward.

3.3 water curtain sprinkler

In case of fire, the detection and alarm device will give an alarm and open the deluge alarm valve to supply water to the pipe network system. When the water flows through the nozzle of the sprinkler, dense particles of water will be sprayed from the semicircular opening in the predetermined direction to form a water curtain for cooling and protecting the fire rolling shutter door and theater curtain. It can also play the role of fire resistance and isolation.

3.4 sidewall sprinkler

The installation of sprinkler against the wall is divided into horizontal and vertical forms. The sprinkler shape of the sprinkler is a semi parabolic shape, which indirectly sprinkles water to the protection area.

3.5 concealed sprinkler

The sprinkler is installed on the water supply branch pipe in the ceiling. And the sprinkler is a parabolic shape.
